お盆

Generally, we call
“Obon”
from August 13th to 16th.

It is said that the souls of ancestors will come back at Obon, so we prepare meal for them.

Even though there are more and more houses without Japanese room, Obon suits well with something

We light the fire call
“welcoming fire”
at the first day and
“farewell fire”
at the end.

There are houses who used
“Bon Chochin in place of Okuri “.

Also, we make horse and cow with cucumber and Aubergine to show our welcome.
It means for them to take horse to come back early and after staying with us, take cow to go back slowly.

Obon is a Japanese traditional culture with welcoming spirit like Japanese room and Tatami.
