Actually, Todaiji is deeply related to Japanese traditional culture, “Tatami”.
Existing oldest Tatami is the one Shoumu Emperor, who constructed Todaiji, used. It’s called
“Gosho no Tatami”
and is stored in Shosoin in Todaiji.

There is a Tatami space in Hokkedo where you can take off your shoes and relax while appreciating the Buddha statues.

and you can get inside.
It is said that the view of the city of Nara from Nigatsudo is wonderful.
