Ginkakuji Calm beauty, harmony of Japanese room and the garden

Ginkakuji is one of the representative sightseeing spot in Kyoto.
It’s actual name is
“Jishoji”
and is registered as World Heritage.

It’s often compared with
“Kinkakuji”
which is also in Kyoto.
Though its outlook is less gorgeous than Kinkakuji, its zestful figure and the harmony with the garden is just fineness.

Seasonal scenery with autumn leaves or snow is so attractive that it makes us forget the time while gazing at it.

“Kanonden”
often called “Ginkakuji” and Tougudo which is connected with the garden are made in
“Shoin style”
with Fushuma, Shoji and Tokonoma.

Shoin style which is one of Samurai residence styles had a large effect over Japanese housing design and it lead to current Japanese room.

There are 3 Tatami rooms in Tougudo such as Doujinsai. Tougudo is registered as a national treasure as the oldest Shoin style building.

Reservation is necessary for visiting inside.
Zest in the small Japanese room must be the
