“Tengu no men (a mask for a long-nosed goblin)” on the tatami Tengu’s hometown Furumine Shrine
The
“Tengu”
is a legendary goblin in Japan.
There are various theories, but Tengu is considered to be a
“messenger of a God”
to chase away disasters.
Various theories are talked, and there are some shrines known as
“Tengu shinkoh”
means a worship of the Tengu.
One of a Shrine is
“Furumine Shrine”
located 700 meters high in Kanuma city, Tochigi.
That area is worshipped as a
“holy ground”
from time immemorial.
Heading go the precincts, it is famous power spot with full of nature and many worshippers visit here.
If you visit Furumine Shrine, you will be given
“Goshuin (holy stamp)”
that the powerful Tengu is written, as a result to visit.
And you can use an accommodation called sanrou.
If you stay there, you will attend the first praying in a day around 8AM.
“Today’s accommodations”
like banquet rooms with 300 tatamis and medium rooms with 100 tatamis are
of course Japanese traditional rooms, and there is a Tengu-no-men on the tatami.
In the site, there is a garden using large shapes of nature called
“Kouhouen”.
You will be healed by beautiful view and be able to taste teas and meals at tatami floored
“Chamise”
means tea house.
If you spend your time at silent
“Tengu’s hometown”
it’ll be gently and luxury time.
