Nakagusuku castle and the Nakamura-house Expansive nature and history into the Japanese room

“Nakagusuku castle”
is a world heritage registered in 2000, and it is located in Okinawa and takes about 1 hour from Naha airport.
Okinawa has more than 300 castles and especially Nakagusuku castle keeps most remains its original form.
Nakagusuku castle, built in the last half of 14 century and built additions by several generations,
is a peculiar structure of Sengoku period that is surrounded by cliffs and steep slopes, easy to protect, and difficult to attack.
These scenic beauty view to see the ocean and the sky is just awesome, so that most visitors cheer to see them.
After enjoying luxury and parting of the Kingdom of Ryukyu at the castle ruins, visiting a historical house named
“The Nakamura House”
an important cultural property, is recommended.
This shows every characteristics for housing of Okinawa before the war, and
it’s very rare in Okinawa island to remain all structures.
The tatami floored Japanese room is called
“Za”.
There are 3 rooms called
“Ichiban-Za”
“Niban-Za”
and
“Sanban-Za”
at the main building called omoya.
The tatami room is sized less than 6 tatamis, and farmers at that time was allowed only that size.
There are detached houses when government officers visit and stay there for inspections.
You can see different history from the castle ruins by the tatami floored rooms and shoji.
