The tatami room where a Japanese author “Osamu DAZAI” created masterpieces

A Japanese author
“Osamu DAZAI”
was active in the first half of the 20th century.
His masterpieces, for example
“The Setting Sun”
and
“No Longer Human”
are even read in abroad.

This time, the study of Osamu DAZAI has moved and opened in Yufuin, Oita.

“HUMAN LOST”
the original piece of his representative piece named
“No Longer Human”
was written at his lodge in Tokyo.

Since November in 1936, he had stayed this lodge about for 7 months.
There was the tatami room and its space was 8 tatamis.
How did he feel, think, and write them on the tatami?
We are fired our imaginations.

This room was in Tokyo, but this time, it has been moved to Yufuin, Oita.
The geography of the room has been remained and some parts of the study, balcony, and
garden have been rebuilt.

Yufuin is popular as
“the hot spring town”.
This room will be open to the public as
“Yufuin Museum of Literature”
and it’ll be possible to visit.

You can enjoy to visit the study, read books there, see the view…
And there are plans of events for literature as a theme.

Please enjoy your time to feel Japanese literature, especially works by Osamu DAZAI, and
interact with others.
