Attractive autumn and winter in Yamanashi “Hoto (a local noodle in Yamanashi)”, loved by Shingen, and Erin-ji Temple Garden
It takes about 1 hour and a half from Tokyo, Isawa in Usui city, Yamanashi Prefecture is crowded
with a lot of tourists because of its good convenience to go easily.
A hot spring town, Isawa Hot Spring is known as a producing area of the grape.
And amazingly, its root is a hot spring wells up from the vineyards.
From the middle of October to the middle of November, Shosenkyo is the best time to see the colored leaves.
It’s located in Kofu city, 10km northern area from Isawa Hot Spring.
Shosenkyo is a view point of powerful and beautiful national gorge, and there are
”Kakuenpo”
and
“Senga-taki”
where are about 180m of height and a priest Kakuen trained himself on its top.
You will be healed by the view beyond a flight of stone steps on a promenade.
After strolling Shosenkyo, why don’t you eat
“Hoto”
that is a local noodle in Yamanashi made of boiled flat noodles and seasonable vegetables
with miso (soy bean pastes)?
You’ll be made warmly enough, both body and mind in a restaurant rebuilt an old Japanese-style house
with Japanese atmosphere by eating Hoto with local vegetables on the tatami.
Shingen TAKEDA, a great commander from Yamanashi, loved Hoto and used it as a food during battles.
He rests in Erin-ji temple, his family temple in Kofu city, Yamanashi Prefecture.
The garden of Erin-ji temple is designated as a national site of a Scenic Beauty, and it’s famous of a representative garden of a famous Zen priest
“Soseki MUSOU”.
You can see this marvelous garden from a connecting corridor or tatami floored rooms, and
this seasonal scenery is said the best in Koshu area.
Yamanashi has rich nature, view, and delicious foods loved by Shingen.
These attractions are increasing from the autumn to the winter.
