A popular tourist spot to feel Japan Vol.7 “Temple” Ushiku Daibutsu and Japanese atmosphere
in Ushiku City, Ibaraki Prefecture was built in December, 1992.
Its height is 120m, and it’s the largest bronze statue in the world.
Actually its height is same as three statues of Liberty in N.Y. and it’s able to put a
statue of Buddha in Todai-ji Temple, Nara that is designated as a national treasure, on its hand,
so that it’s registered in the Guinness Book.
Its inside is
“large vertical temple”.
People can visit an observation platform at 85m above the ground by EV, and see the inside separated
into 5 levels.
The blue space with mysterious lights is designed by a French designer.
It’s interesting that we can see “harmony” of Japanese and Western by its architecture design.
“Tatami” is used as a Japanese culture because it’s a temple, and we can feel Japanese atmosphere
by several tatami floored spaces like
where is able to experience writing calligraphy for the first time in the New Year
where the deceased layout as the Buddha and priests do sutra chanting every day, and so on.
Ushiku is the only place to have special experience that is able to see the largest statue of Buddha
in the world while feeling Japanese culture and atmosphere in the temple.
