When you’re asked
“What is Japan for you?”
some of you may answer
“Samurai” or “Ninja”.

Iga City locates between Mie Prefecture and Nara Prefecture, and it’s well known as a “Ninja village” and a beautiful castle town where a master of haiku, Basho MATSUO was born.

Because it looks like Hakuho (Chinese phoenixes) take a rest there, Iga-Ueno-Jo Castle is also called
“Hakuho-Jo Castle”.
Though it wasn’t completed to build Iga-Ueno-Jo Castle, this was repaired and placed here up to now by
Takatora TODO who is a mater of castle construction.

Takatora ordered Ninja to check 148 castles in 58 countries for copying sketches, and it was referred them
to repair Iga-Ueno-Jo Castle.
This is a famous castle as “Ninja village”.

The current look was rebuilt in 1935, and its inner moats and the best “high stone walls” in Japan are remaining former looks.
And “Ninja Museum in Igaryu” in here is necessary to visit.

Kunoichi (female Ninja) introduce the Ninja house, and you can experience Shuriken (throwing knife).
In addition, you can enjoy a Ninja show.

Also “Irimajiri House” is a precious historical site to see the history of Samurai and Ninja, and
it is a Samurai house that remains only “Nagaya-mon Gate” in Mie Prefecture.
You can see a tea room with an exotic atmosphere by sunshine on the tatami from the round window,
the old entrance, and the tatami room.

It’s surely “experience in Japan” to think of the time when samurai spent on the tatami.

Iga is a town of Ninja and Castle.
You may hear Ninja’s footsteps there.
