A popular tourist spot to feel Japan Vol.37 “Frog Temple” with Japanese atmosphere and smiles A lot of goods on the tatami and the wind-bell’s sound

Nyoinrin-ji Temple in Ogori City in Fukuoka Prefecture was opened in 729.
It has 1,300 years of history, and it’s the most historical temple in Ogori.

It’s a high-class temple that has only statue in Japan “Standing Statue of Kannon”, and also it’s famous as “Frog Temple” because there are more than 5,000 ornaments and objets of frogs.

A lot of tourists from both Japan and abroad visit Nyoinrin-ji Temple to see frogs like “handshake frogs”, “couple frogs”, and so on.

“Frog Temple” had begun that a chief priest found frogs’ ornaments at an antique shop and bought them to come back with them when he traveled to China.
In the temple, there is a tatami floored room called “Frog room”, and people can see lined up unique frog goods on the tatami.

During the summer season, every July to September, there is another attraction “Wind-bell Festival” that decorates wind-bells in the temple.

The beautiful sound of wind-bells, a tradition in the summer of Japan from long time ago, makes people healing and peace.

In June, during the rainy season, frogs become active and croak.
You are surrounded with a lot of frogs and they make you smile at “Frog Temple”, and there are gentle breeze and beautiful sound of wind-bells.

“Japanese summer” is about to start with nostalgic tastes.
