Hakodate in the summer Vol.1 The night view and the exotic townscape.
Speaking of the entrance of Hokkaido where is a port town mixed up the night view like a jewelry box and chosen by the Michelin guide, the Western, and the Japan, it’s Hakodate.
Even for Japanese people, it’s a tourist spot wants to visit at least once.
At first, it’s the night view.
After the sunset, let’s climb Mt. Hakodate.
You can see colorful orange, green, and white lights on the place between Tsugaru Strait on the right and Hakodate Bay on the left.
The reasons of its beauty are white lights on the road, orange street lights, and houses’ lights that can feel lives in the town.
In the summer, it’s often seen that mysterious lights by ships for squid fishing in the dark sea.
Some people climb the mountain before the sunset to see increasing lights.
In Hakodate, the trade port was opened to trade with the U.S. and France with Nagasaki and Yokohama at the end of the Edo Period.
The town for only foreigners was established in Nagasaki and Yokohama though, Hakodate was a small town so that foreigners lived with Japanese people.
Because of this, people had opportunities to learn Western foods and technologies, and then, carpenters who learnt the Western architecture style built a lot of Western style houses in Hakodate.
Top and bottom semi-Western style house is an original building in Hakodate among them.
The Japanese and the Western style are piled up like sandwiches; the first floor is the Japanese style with latticed doors, the second floor is the Western style with the colorful wall and long windows, and the roof is the Japanese style with tiles.
The second floor is the Western style though, most of them have the tatami floor for Japanese people to live.
Its style is for Japanese people that they include all good things.
Even if you don’t know about architectures very well, it’s able to feel mysterious charms.
You’ll be amazed by the beautiful view of the port and the old town scape while enjoying a walk.
After enjoying the Hakodate town, you can enjoy grommets next.
There is a lot of delicious food.
