Kitakyushu City is located in the northernmost of Kyushu, and faces with Kanmon Channel.
One of the symbols representing Kitakyushu is “Government Controlled Yawata Steel Work”.
It opened in 1901 and assisted to develop Kitakyushu City as an industrial city.
Then, it was designated as the world heritage in 2015.

Mt. Sakura-yama is 622 meters above the sea level, and locates in Yahatahigashi-ku in Kitakyushu.
The night view from Mt. Sakura-yama is designated as “New Three Major Night Views of Japan”, and also, it is famous as the tourist spot.
It is easy to go by the cablecar or the car to the summit, so its daily view is also popular that is able to see the landscape of Kokura.
It is near from the station, and good to access.
Also, Kokura-jo Castle is good to see that was set on the basis in 1569, and built for 7 years from 1602 by Tadaoki HOSOKAWA.
Tadaoki emphasized the castle town Kokura to develop; merchants were gathered, it achieved trades with foreigns, festivals were held, and so on.
Kokura-jo Castle Garden, that is able to see the view while strolling around the pond, is fulfilled by beautiful greens, and the Japanese traditional architecture style “Shoin”, a wooden building, has methodically tatami floored Japanese room.
People can see this garden from on the tasteful tatami or the alcove.
