Kawazu Town in Kamo-Gun, Shizuoka Prefecture is the town with the rich nature faced in the Pacific, and 80% of the town is the woodland and the wild land.

It is a story about a man who traveled to Izu alone loved a dancer in an itinerant theatrical troupe.

This title is translated to “The Izu Dancer” or “The Dancing Girl of Izu” in English, and also, it is translated to Chinese, Germany, Italy, and so on, so that it is read everywhere in the world.

The writer Yasunari KAWABATA is a world wide well known literary man who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1968, that was the first time in Japanese.
“The Izu Dancer” is a popular work written by his experience that he traveled Izu alone when he was 19 years old, and it succeeds for a long time.

“Fukuda-Ya” in Kawazu Town is famous as “the inn of The Izu Dancer”.
When Yasunari was 19 years old, he stayed this inn for the first time, and then, he visited here several times.

He wrote “The Izu Dancer” and set here as the place of it.

In Fukuda-Ya, Yasunari’s works and documents of literatures are exhibited.
It is not only to feel breaths of a worldwide literary man, but also, the tasteful exterior, that across the wooden bridge, welcomes visitors warmly once the Meiji Period.

When being relax in the calmed and tasteful very Japanese room, that has the tatami, the shoji, and the alcove, it is surely the world of the story.
