The views of starry night and morning haze in grand north Alps Enjoy Kamikochi in the spring

Kamikochi is a mountain resort leading Japan, that is designated as the national special places of scenic beauty and the national monument.
It is in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, and it is a plain located in the upriver area of Azusa River that streams the valley of Hida mountains.

It is 1,500 meters above the sea level, and there is no other large plain in Japan in spite of this altitude.

After the winter season in Kamikochi, that is closed by the snow in the coldness, “Kamikochi Kaizan Festival” is held on 4/27 every year to tell that the spring is coming.
In front of mountains with remaining snow, sounds of Alphorn and prays for the safe and the prosper of mountains are harmonized, and a lot of people, waiting for the spring in Kamikochi, are gathered in the base of “Kappabashi Bridge”, that is the wooden bridge symbolized Kamikochi.

Kamikochi restricts to drive a car throughout a year to protect the nature, so you should use the shuttle bus when you visit here.
From the spring to the autumn, about 1,500,000 people visit here.

Mt. Yakedake is an active volcano that is 2,455 meters above the sea level, and it is designated as 100 famous mountains in Japan.
Kamikochi has various strolling and viewing spots; for example, a walking course around Taishoike Pond made of eruptions of Mt. Yakedake, “Myojinike Pond” with the mysterious atmosphere called god precincts in Hotaka Shrine, and so on.

Near from Myojinike Pond, there is a mountain hut named “Kamonjigoya”, had by Kamonji Kamijo, who was a famous fisherman and introduced north Alps to Walter Weston, who was a British missionary and introduced Kamikochi to the world.

In Kamonjigoya, grilled chars with salt at the fireside are delicious.
Please relax at the fireside, take a rest after strolling, and eat them.

Kamikochi is able to enjoy walking in two hours, but we recommend you to stay at the inn if you have enough time.
Because it is prohibited to drive a car during the night in Kamikochi, so there are “special views for people who stayed there”; for example, the starry night, Taishoike Pond with morning haze, the dignified atmosphere of the early morning, and so on.

It is also luxurious moments that healing from the fatigues at the large bath and relaxing on the tatami while seeing the rich nature from the window.

Kamikochi is the mid-spring, and it is able to enjoy seeing beautiful greens of trees and mountains.
