Grand karst plateau, “Akiyoshidai” and “Akiyoshido” Relaxation and atmosphere of “Yuda Hot Spring”, a historic popular hot spring

Yamaguchi Prefecture is in the westernmost of the main island of Japan, and it is surrounded by the sea.
Mine City is in the center of Yamaguchi Prefecture, that is the only city in Yamaguchi Prefecture that is not faced to the sea, and it is famous that there is “Akiyoshidai”, the largest karst plateau in Japan.

Karst plateau is the land eroded by the rain or groundwater from the plateau, including ingredients that are well soluble in water.
Akiyoshidai is 200 to 400 meters above the sea level, and there is the large karst plateau that is 4,500 hectares.

We recommend you to see the big panorama from the observatory!
You will enjoy the marvelous view that is designated as the special national monument.

Under Akiyoshidai, that is 100 to 200 meters below, there is “Akiyoshido”, that is the largest cave in Japan designated as the special national monument.
Its length is about 8km, the promenade is maintained in 1km among it, and you will feel like exploring the cave if you go there.

“Senjojiki” area in Akiyoshidai is able to see the mysterious view like terraced paddy field and its size is so powerful; its length is 175 meters, its width is 80 meters, and its height is 35 meters.
Even Akiyoshido is cold in the summer, so you need something to put on.

The ground has often water in, so also you need shoes to walk easily and closes that has no need to be clean.

After enjoying powerful Akiyoshidai and Akiyoshido, we recommend you to stay at “Yuda Hot Spring”, that takes 30 minutes in a car from there.

Yuda Hot Spring attracts people by its rich amount of the hot water.
It wells up 2,000t of national hot spring in a day.

Long time ago, a wounded white fox came to Yuda Hot Spring to heal his wound, and after that, a lot of famous people like Ryoma Sakamoto, Takamori Saigo, Shinsaku Takasugi, and Hirofumi Ito visited Yuda Hot Spring.
Their bath has been remained as “Ishin-no-Yu”, and you can feel the history.

You can relax in the hot spring and on the tasteful tatami.
