The marvelous view of azalea flowers The grand view of Mt. Yamato-Katsuragi and the townscape with the historic atmosphere in Gose, Nara
Mt. Yamato-Katsuragi is a mountain, that is 959 meters above the sea level, located from Gose City in Nara Prefecture to Minamikawachi Gun in Osaka Fu.
It is able to enjoy fresh green and grand views like autumn leaves and pampas grass throughout a year.
Now, in May, it is the season of azalea flowers.
Red azalea flowers are full bloomed in “Nature Azalea Garden” in Katsuragi Highlands, located around the summit; this marvelous view is like the red carpet, so a lot of tourists visit here to see it during this season.
It takes only 5 minutes by a ropeway to the summit, and you are able to choose a trail course from 4 various level courses; it is good for people who want to enjoy the view while trailing to the summit.
However, some roads are not maintained so that you should prepare shoes, clothes, and rainwear for the trail!
Gose City is located in base of Mt. Yamato-Katsuragi, and it was prospered as a commercial town in the Edo Period.
Nagara, a small colony in the suburbs, had been prospered as a key place of transportation since long time ago; it has still remained brave buildings with historic status so that told us the former townscape.
It is necessary to see “Nakamura’s residence”, designated as an important cultural property, and “Kubo house”, still working as a brewery.
Also, is it good to visit “Nagara Shrine”, built in 1450, and “Tegami Cage” with the retro atmosphere, rebuilt from the postoffice.

There are full bloomed azalea on the summit with the blue sky, the silent townscape that seems to have a time travel, and the Japanese traditional houses.
